How time flies!
Wow I hadn't even realized it's been a month since my last post! I have so many exciting things to talk about from these past weeks but honestly it would take up so much space no one would want to read it. I spent some time traveling around to catch a glimpse of percussionists around my area (Northeastern Ohio) and seeing what they liked to play as well as what most people need to work on. I met some really amazing people and had a blast with my research. Soon to come will be more reviews of online drum lesson packages, clips and excerpts of my research and plenty of good stories that I bet you'll like.

Beginner Drum Lessons - It's about saving money.
One of the greatest advantages that taking beginner drum lessons online has is the INCREDIBLE amount of money you can save, and that is no joke. I personally took drum lessons for over 2 years while in high school, and my poor mother was shelling out $1500 per year on my lessons! If I had known then that I could pay less than 5% of that and get more than year's worth of drum lessons online, it's pretty obvious what I would have chosen. Unfortunately, online beginner drum lessons were something I had never heard of. Now, however, I have the ability to educate others of the costs and benefits of beginner drum lessons online and give my readers forewarning before they start investing their paychecks in their local music stores. If you read through my site and find something that you like, I promise you'll be spending all that money on a nice new drum set instead of paying to play on theirs.

Free Drum Lesson!

In order to help you along, or even just to give you some free advice on drumming before you decide to take some lessons, I'm going to give some pointers on beginner drumming so that you can put some sticks in your hands and see what you're made of.
Click here for a list of the 40 original rudiments, and pick one that you feel you can play.
For an up and coming drummer, it's important that you first begin to build chops (endurance) as well as your rhythmic comprehension. Maybe you can play a beat, but you always lose tempo on beat 4. Maybe you can play it perfectly 10 times in a row and then your arms get tired. Either way, the most important thing is repetitive practice and hard work. For this week, pick a rudiment, and use the lowest tempo assigned for that rudiment. Use a metronome if you have one, if not click here and use this one. Once you can play the rudiment with the metronome 10 times perfectly, move on to the next tempo and begin again. Not only will this train your ears to know when you're playing correctly or not, it will burn tempos into your brain as well as really give you a good chop burn on those higher tempos.
Try this out and leave me some comments with any questions!

Begin Drumming - Lessons Online with Jim McCarthy

After a week of no posts, I've come back with a FANTASTIC opportunity for beginner's to the drum scene with Jim McCarthy's "Begin Drumming" program. Before I explain my feelings on the program, however, I'd like to first introduce Jim, who's expertise alone should make you want to try this product immediately. Jim comes to us with a Master's Degree in percussion performance, making him one of the most elite minds in percussion today. He has also been teaching for 20+ years, meaning his advice is tried, true, and effective for any up-and-coming drummer trying to become a professional!
Cost: The cost of this product is actually what makes me so insanely excited about it! Along with Jim's 100% satisfaction guarantee, you're getting multiple hours of direct video lessons, almost 200 audio files, all fully uploadable to your ipod or mp3 player with 3 seperate speeds to choose from, massive amounts of sheet music, as well as personal support from Jim himself for $49.95. Not only that, but by simply registering you get 5 videos for free to see if you like the way Jim teaches.
Content: The extra special part about Jim's program that seperates it from most others are his interactive audio lessons. With these, you can pick a beat, pick a speed, and download it directly to your mp3 player to go play with until you need to speed it up or you want a different beat. As a drummer, I can tell you firsthand how useful these tracks will become for you to improve.
Effectiveness: As far as integrity and expertise, I don't think you'll find a better instructor than Jim on the internet these days. Therefore, this program is extremely effective as well as extremely easy to grasp and understand. Jim has a strong understanding of what it takes to teach someone, and not only that, but what it takes to teach someone QUICKLY and EASILY.
Conclusion: Beginner drum lessons from the "Begin Drumming" program is one of the most promising programs online today. I am in LOVE with this product right now for it's price, period. I don't think you can find a better product online right now for less than $50, and if you do, I want to hear about it. If you don't trust me, please listen to what Jim has to say on his page and give him a chance.

Beginner Drum Lessons - Ultimate Drum and Cymbal Guide
I just got some brand new information on an Ultimate Drum and Cymbal Guide that I thought I might share with you. Since the purpose of this blog is to help direct you towards the right sources in regards to beginner drum lessons, I think it's extremely important I also give you some GREAT information on the do's and don'ts of purchasing drums and cymbals.
Everything from buying your first drum to setting up a professional set is included in this guide, and luckily the deal I get to offer you with this guide comes with an 8 week money-back guarantee. This means that if you don't feel you need the information or it's not exactly what you expected, you can get your money right back.
Coming from someone who has made bad purchases of percussion equipment in the past, I would strongly recommend having a guide for your first time. There's nothing worse than knowing how much you can spend and having no clue what to buy. I can almost guarantee this guide will help save you money in the end, and even if it doesn't, the information in here is worth well over the $20 you'll pay for it.

Beginner Drum Lessons - MusicMasterPro.com

The first site that I'll be reviewing is MusicMasterPro.com. I'll be reviewing this site, just as I will review every site, under three separate categories, and then I will give my personal conclusion at the end.
Cost: Cost for this product, in my opinion, is just plain perfect. You won't find a better price for this amount of content on the internet today. For $29.95, you get 200 lessons, 18 Video lessons, 20 audio lessons, exclusive jam tracks, hundreds of patterns, licks, and much more to get you started on your drumming career.
Content: If you purchase the drum instruction kit, you also get access to the other instrument lessons as well, in case anyone out there is looking to learn more than one instrument. In regards to the drum content, I have to say it is a LOT better than what he offers for the bass or the guitar, which is understandable considering the creator is a drummer. The lessons give you clear-cut instructions on improvement, as well as a good variety of styles so that you get the full spectrum of beginner drum lessons with this package.
Effectiveness: Price considered, this program can take you very far in your development as a drummer. I won't say this is the only product you would ever have to buy, but for most percussionists, just getting a taste of how to drum will lead you down your own path of learning, meaning you very well may not have to purchase any other product to succeed in your endeavors. The student I instructed who used this product told me it helped him stay on track when my teaching was too far above his head, so this is a good place to look for people who want to take things at their own pace.
Conclusion: Beginner drum lessons from MusicMasterPro.com WILL be enriching both for your wallet and your drum appetite. This effective program is being used by many internet users currently, and is a popular program among it's competitors. For $30, I don't see how you could go wrong in purchasing this product.
